Pollyannuh, I'm calling you out
In your zeal to stump for the Democrats, you have repeatedly ignored the fact that many Democrats voted for the war, for BOTH PATRIOT Acts, and to suspend Habeas Corpus. Why do you gloss over that? Do you advocate that a Democrat be returned to office after voting away our freedoms? A wolf in sheeps clothing is still a wolf.

Senate Democrats who voted this way (this does even include the house):

How they voted:

Here in Australia, we also have 2 party system(Liberals - Labor). It seems what happens to America now, we in Australia will 1 day experience. Australia is about 5 to 10 years behind, following in the same footsteps. That is probably why it is so hard to tell where Bush ends and Howard starts. Vote independent and keep the bastards honest used to be the cry here to support the biggest minor party, until that minor party rolled over into bed with them. We actually call that party, the Democrat party.

Isaac Brock

place_of_death = Queenston Heights, Canada.
}} Major-General Sir Isaac Brock KB (6 October 1769 – October 13, 1812) was a British Major-General and administrator. Brock is best remembered as a brilliant leader and strategist for his actions while stationed in the Canadian colonies. His efforts earned him a knighthood, accolades, and the moniker The Hero of Upper Canada.

Brock was assigned to Canada in 1802, and became responsible for defending the territory from the United States during the War of 1812. While many in Canada and in Britain believed war could be averted, he began readying the army and militia for what was to come. When war broke out, the populace was prepared — and quick victories at Fort Mackinac and Detroit crippled American invasion efforts.

During Sir Isaac's tenure he faced desertions and near mutinies, was injured in battle and nearly died from fever. His heroics earned him membership in the Order of the Bath, and he had the privilege of serving alongside Lord Nelson and Tecumseh. His death in the Battle of Queenston Heights was a crushing blow to British leadership.

Re: Pollyannuh, I'm calling you out
kudos to pollyannuh for blowing off this thread so far. i hope she continues to blow it off and support democratic practices as best as can be done in the American Constitutional Republic.

in the United States the Constitutional Republic began with the formation of the electoral college.

i believe it was in 1789, if i am wrong MAYBE someone will point it out.

cultivating a half-understanding or complete ignorance in the way federal politics work is how the rich keep getting richer and how the so called "Illuminated Bloodliners" have passed power on from generation to generation since the american continent was invaded...in the same way that South Africa and Australia were invaded...

but the idea is that to understand the difference between Constitutional Republic -- which borders on the tyranny of Monarchy -- and Representational Democracy which many people, MAYBE including pollyannuh, i don't know -- say that they want but don't understand...

...one has to go back to Plato and many centuries ago. when more people are ready to take that intellectual plunge well, perhaps the United States will be closer to a Democracy.

It's more like a DYING SECRET that the United States has never been a representational -- or actual -- democracy. it's about a blind spot -- as when people are quick to hail Thomas Jefferson as the father of the Democratic Ideal -- even though he -- as did Greeks of Plato's time - owned slaves.

slavery is anathema to the idea of democracy. It's a big challenge as many people have generations of not knowing what Democracy really is -- and yet bragging about freedom.

But Jefferson and his Comrades who owned slaves?

celebrating them as champions of freedom as americans have been fooled into is why there is such a strained and limited seeming sort of freedom in the United States now...

in addition the Nazi/Fascist mentality is present in the United States in large numbers -- as it was during the Revolutionary period -- when Native Americans and Africans were treated by the invading, colonizing Anglos as Jewry was treated by the German National Socialists during world war two.

the fact is is that it's sort of complex, and the fact that you sort of have to understand Plato and the mentality of the Government system in Plato's time to really make a change --

that's on purpose.

people have lived and died asking questions like these for Generations. and OLD GEORGE -- not the stuttering son, but the living tyrant/patriarch -- DEPENDS on that confused questioning among the many and people never really getting to the real answers...because of course, Dubya has sons and daughters -- and Prescott and Samuel were dynasts.

The Bush Goal is to create a way for their family bloodline to rule -- as monarchs protected in part by the Vox Populi's ignorance of exactly that philosophy which could save them from the wage-slavemasters -

pure representational democract.

so basically...when the topicstarter talks about democrats being voted into office after voting away our freedoms -- they are referring to democrats who are democrats in name only. Sort of like if your parents named you Emperor King Larry but you never had any real power to rule over anything.

if someone in Politics calls themself a democrat but does all their politicking to ensure and shore up the constitutional republic -- lookin towards the interests of megabusiness and making sure the federal infrastructure does NOT change to serve the interests of the bulk of society

than they are just CALLING themselves "Democrats" taking advantage of that societal bulk's sad, lamentable -- and CURABLE -- ignorance of the facts of what Constitutional Republic is. But they are Not Friends Of Democratic Goings-On - they are advocates and champions of Republic.

as in:Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. As of People's Republic of China and as in any nation with the word "Republic" in their official title -- including the absurdity of Democratic Republics, which are like "cold heat" or "anarcho-socialism."

it's a contradiction in terms. an absurdity. it doesn't happen. there is no such thing as a Democratic Republic, in other words - when people go to vote in a Democratic Republic the same old system gets shored up - and that is a infrastructure of Republic.

this seems long and drawn out. But Plato died a LONG time ago.

and toga wearing, vomitorioum - hanging - out - at, paedophile consorting with, slavegirl hair burning Plato was and remains the "father" of and primary architect of Republic.

people have tended not to understand for the many many years since the death of Plato.

OP is correct, Democrats voted for the war along with the Repubs. I'm sick of both parties but the Democrats more so because they are a "fair weather" party--if things were going good in Iraq (which they aren't), they would be on every news outlet taking credit and sucking the oxygen out of the White House press room. Bush is really hurting the Repubs by saying he agrees with Americans in that he's not happy with the war.
