British businessman offers 1-million-pound reward for Madeleine

London- A British businessman has offered a reward of 1
million pounds (2 million dollars) for information leading to the
return of Madeleine McCann, the three-year-old British girl abducted
from her bed in a holiday resort on the Algarve in southern Portugal.
Reports in Britain said Friday that the money had been offered by
tycoon Stephen Winyard, a major landowner in Scotland.

Madeleine, from Rothley, Leicestershire, central Britain, was
taken from her bed at a resort in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on 3 May,
while her parents, who are both doctors, had dinner in a nearby
resturant.

Portuguese police said they were scaling down the search for the
girl, with suspicion growing that she might have fallen victim to an
international paedophile ring.
