Are the red dots just Stars or Planets or something else? Photo of Moon
I was looking at this image uploaded to SpaceWeather.com.

On the upper left side there are two red dots. I'm assuming they are just Stars but I thought I would post it here for verification.

I see these red dots in a lot of space photos, so I'm pretty sure they are Stars, just wanted to make sure.

Thanks,
Rich

Saw the same pic this morning. Those my friend are two of Jupiter's moons.

this photo does bring up an interesting question though. for any avid photography professional, we can see this photo is taken obviously from earth and all of that, without getting too technical.

The question I have is if this is magnified through a lens (telescope or telescoping camera lens, etc) and Jupiter looks that big and the moon is in correct focus as is Jupiter, is this how big Jupiter looks from the moon or is there some other trickery going on here?

No that is not how big Jupiter looks from the Moon. It will look about the same as it does from Earth. In the picture both the Moon and Jupiter are magnified. When on the Moon you are of course physically closer to the Moon but only marginally closer (and sometimes even farther) to Jupiter.

Bad pixels - visible also at the second photo at the same position.

If it were stars they would move with Jupiter.
