Quoting: 1908247 I myself am not afraid to say that for a while I thought I was Jesus some months ago. Heh well, what can we do I remember that. I like the psychology article I posted above, because it was saying that we all have it a little inside, and it is somewhat healthy. On a positive note: Quoting: Septenary Man ...The desire to redeem and "save the world," when kept in check, can be a very positive force in life, motivating us to do good and to leave the world a better place--if only infinitesimally--than when we came into it. Quoting: positive note[link to www.psychologytoday.com] I believe one of the worst thing that can happen in cases like this is one starting to see more of the patterns but then perceiving those erroneously, which can lead to other things such as the feeling of being followed, etc something not much unusual here on GLP. Not to mention when these people really start being followed. 'tis a shame when creation power is driven on the wrong direction and people start materializing through words/actions negative things Last Edited by 1908247 on 03/01/2013 04:13 PM Nus |

Of course, it reminded me immediately of the dozens of posters on GLP claiming they are the One. Quoting: Septenary Man It is fascinating that this research can be compiled and shown, and still the denial of the one/s suffering from Messiah Complex are resolute. The Messiah Complex and Jerusalem Syndrome [link to www.bibliotecapleyades.net] "There are numerous 'Jesus Christs' running about the world, none of whom probably agrees that any of the others are sane and truthful." :becamegod: I am one that is happy to oblige as counter example of one who does not deny one's own suffering. Just an FYI :) BTW - my complex started developing around the age of 5. Ironically enough, delving back into and then back out of it through GLP has truly helped me to find a new, better level of happiness in my life :3 It might surprise others to know, but the result of that first stage of development sucked for me. Since around 8 years old, I can't astral project, lucid dream, meditate into OBEs, or do any other form of 'spiritual work' whatsoever. I know why this is and I know what needs to happen to revert it - I just don't know how to do the reversion :Þ I quite like the subconscious tap I'm developing ATM, though, so for the time being I purposefully make note to every so often seek out this answer to make sure it doesn't come to me too soon. As with all other esoteric goodies I have - one day, some day, the answer will simply come to me when I'm no longer seeking it. And then a few days later, par course, I will find instructions written in an ancient text on precisely the theory and practice of what it is I recently came to know and do intuitively. That, or I'll foolishly do the reversion subconsciously without even realizing what I'm doing or why. At least I do always get multiple levels of confirmation after the fact =D |

I never read the bible. I just thought it fascinating from an observational point. Not many people get to experience the thoughts of these kind of people like we get to here on GLP. Someone could do an incredible case study just by studying some of the self-proclaimed here on GLP. It is a wealth of information and pattern recognition and symptoms of this psychological 'issue'. If you look at the qualities of the symptom, as it affects those in Jerusalem, a slap across the cheek can probably snap the 'Christian' back to reality. Half the stuff is what a tourist would do in any city. If they don't want people at the wailing wall after dark then why dress it up as much as any shuttle launch, meaning much money spent on getting the lighting just right. If Christians going there are a 'clear and present danger' how about the ones who have the same syndrome that when in Jerusalem they are transported back to the time when Moses dropped them off there. (with all the persecutions intact) A few years back the 'punishment/cure' was a weekend with Shin Bet and their sensitivity training course for that 'disease', it has probably not gone down any. As a marketing ploy they could sell a lot of fake sackcloth robes to the tourists who could justify one but why do they need 4 or 6 of them?? Last Edited by MHz on 03/01/2013 05:00 PM |

To start with, the ´second´coming is not the second coming; there have been many ´comings´ in full soul and partial soul form. The last partial soul, the spiritual soul, I believe was Sai Baba. When He returns ´officially´ He will not be called Jesus. ´Jesus´ was a ´one off´ like Adam, Moses, Noah, King Solomon etc, BUT He will be ´HIS´son. Another point is that He will not try and convince anyone. That is not His job. He knows who He is so why does He need for anyone to create an ego for Him? The ONLY reason for letting people be aware of who He is, is that then the people He is in contact with, will then realise ´their´ importance and mission. I will say again and again. If the ´nobody´ does not give full details of who he is then he cannot be the one; because obviously he has some fear. The óne´ does not have competition with anyone and is willing to work with all. ´HE´, the ALMIGHTY LORD CREATOR, will be the one to inform HIS children and NO ONE ELSE!!! Believe in ´HIM´as ´HE´believes in you Bless you Stephen X |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35378583 its been in the back of my mind for quite a while i guess i can see where your coming from tough , with all the would be messiahs, "nobodies" or assorted mythological title claiming persons on this site It was the church officials & emperors who sought to portray Jesus as the one and only 'God' and thus to create separation and deny the masses from acknowledging their own divine origins & spiritual nature. By creating this separation or illusion, those who held power sought to create an environment where the uninformed masses would exhibit blind trust and complete obedience to the church doctrine (and thus the ruling parties) who conveniently presented themselves as the intermediary between the physical flesh and the divine. No true spiritual leader/guru/master would ever tell you that he/she was more important or more special than any other soul and if you ever come across one who says or implies such a thing, you can be certain that he/she is a charlatan and/or being led by his/her ego an thus deceived and not to be looked upon for guidance or inspiration. That is how I understand it as well, Anhedonic. Good post. Agreed, it was a very truthful post Anhedonic... SS, for as long as we have known of each others existence I will have to say this about you, you have been holding your tongue quite well as of late. gd2balive User ID: 5984884 United States 03/01/2013 05:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is important to understand, in this context, that Jesus did not have any "messiah complex". Quoting: 4Q529 In fact, he specifically told his followers NOT to tell anyone that he was the 'messiah'. Why? Because that would distract from his Teaching. He was well-aware that people have a fundamental tendency to focus on the person instead of the Teaching anyway; especially when that Teaching is offensive. And what happened then? Christians now worship Jesus as 'God'--something that the Quran characterizes as a "monstrous blasphemy"--while having NO understanding that Jesus taught the Doctrine of "resurrection" as a Doctrine of 'Rebirth'. Paul, for example, worshiped Jesus as 'God' while specifically contradicting his Teaching on "the resurrection", never having heard OR understood the reply of Jesus to the Sadducees. Michael He Saul/Paul knew he was in error at times and in knowing this he says, what I want to do I don;t do and what I do is what I do not want to do One cannot present much more humility than this as Paul showed MJ |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1447551 United States 03/01/2013 05:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm mentally ill. I suffer from bipolar disorder AND scitzophrenia. I'm on medications. Heavy medications. At least 2 different types of anti depressants and 2 different types of anti psycitiocs. They help me out IMMENSELY!!! I was born with a mental illness and it really blew up when I was 23-24 years old. I fucked up and did LSD. That really fucked up my mind big time. If you suffer from a mental illness or it runs in the family, please be aware that LSD could very well make it MUCH WORSE for you to deal with. One of symptoms of my illness is a messiah complex. I really really think I am the new messiah IF I DON'T have my meds. With my meds I don't suffer from this problem. If the delusions come up they are quickly done away with and I am able to keep control of my mind. At first, before my illness went full bore and I ACTUALLY BELIEVED I WAS THE MESSIAH, I was aware of something that was wrong with me. I even wrote down a small booklet of my problems but I don't think many people read it. Heck, I felt that I was going crazy BEFORE I REALLY WENT CRAZY. If you suffer from a messiah complex maybe you should look into maybe getting some professional help (ie a shrink and a therapist.) I too have noticed that GLP seems to attract the people who suffer from these messiah delusions. I agree that it would be a great case study! |
