I tried to find other images that replicate this (albeit I only searched rather briefly) and was unsuccessful. It does seem odd to me, but I don't necessarily have any evidence to back up that claim.

Busy week ahead then!

Bz component is very much on the plus side (North Side) right now. This is actually a good thing as it actually strengthens out magnetic field. It should be noted I haven't seen the Bz this far north in over a year.

I would tend to agree, but seeing the field in such disarray after such a fierce storm concerns me that it might be vulnerable to further attacks from elsewhere?!

Do whatever may comfort you but this is the earth's natural reaction after a moderate storm. It is in defense mode. Best analogy would be like someone getting sucker punched, then backing away and shielding themselves...
