Yes, it is true. It is a festival in honor to Khrishna and that is the reason of the color chalck, the same way that water is also throw in other people, to represenf the fact that khrishna used to throw water on maids. That is why you see water also throw on the car add.

But the point is. What really the Holi festival means in india? Simple, it is the festival that celebrates the beginning of the Spring.
