I am female and love to travel.

To me it has a lot to do with history and ancient cultures. I also have a big interest in the rain forest and love to expose my kids to the vast array of environments and cultures.

Used as a learning tool, it is pretty amazing. It is the ultimate hands-on Science for them. It also works for cultures,languages, religions, etc.

We don't use cell phones when we travel (except when its bedtime) and we do very real traveling (no staying at tourist resorts and claiming to have experienced the country).

My eldest daughter had been in 11 countries by the time she turned 17. She has an amazing grasp on the world.

Instead of learning about the endangered rainforest in school- why not go there and see the plants and animals yourself? When teachers start different units, my kids can bring in photos and experiences from the different cultures, climates and histories.

There is something amazing about standing on top of a mountain in a recently discovered village that was used to signal Machu Pichu as to where the Spanish were.... Or, about seeing a volcano suddenly erupt (my 10 year old caught one throw out a giant rock and then start smoking), or, bathing in hot springs from volcanoes.

To me, it is about life- it is unifying, and it makes it so much more real than any 'reality' tv. God is greater. He has created it all, and, it is beautiful and amazing.

Oh, just like another post from this thread, women have it so easy this day in age, it's like practically everything is given to them. They can make money in 3 seconds all because they have a vagina.
