How is the economy affecting YOU?
Quote

As mentioned on one of the pinned threads above, it seems like some people are already really affected by this change in economy and some are not.

Take an honest look at your life without the GLP doom mindset if you can, and tell me how the economy changes have affected your day-to-day life. What are you sacrificing? What have you lost? How has your life gotten worse?

You don't drive as much? (How has that made your life worse?)

You can't afford as many groceries? (How has that made your life worse?)

You can't afford to pay a mortgage on a house? (How has that made your life worse?)

You lost your job? (How has that made your life worse?)

I'm not implying anything. Just curious.

I cook at work on a hot plate instead of eating out every day. I actually enjoy it better though. Today I had leftover split pea soup and left over corned beef. I save around $50.00 per week.

I work for Verizon Fios. Last year I had about 20+ hours of overtime. Now, NOTHING.

I cut my cable tv service and switched phone service to Vonage. Keeping my internet for 41.00/mo. Put up an antenna.

I literally have about 180.00/wk left over a week after paying all bills EXCEPT credit cards (which I have stopped paying).

180/wk with a wife who doesnt have a job and two boys.

YES, THIS SUCKS NOW. But I do have stored food+water.

Pulling 80.00/wk out of bank and into my safe.

Gas is high but I got a scooter to handle that...otherwise the only other thing is the airfares being so high I won't be flying anywhere. I shop at aldies, sams's and fresh market for food so any higher cost hasn't hit me yet and as soon as our veggies ect come in will shop farmer's markets.

started riding the bus to work, I save about 80 to 120 per month not buying so much gas...got rid of landline and bundled cable, phone and internet, saving about 60 a month there...not eating out as much, combining trips when possible...

a lot of people say they don't eat out as much now that gas is this high. i bet we see many fast food and other restaurants like chilis, applebees, etc go belly up by the end of the year.

just like the many failing starbucks franchises.

Sucks for me. Havent been able to find work as a land surveyor or carpenter, but im surviving by waiting tables.
Im most worried about my parents. My father lost his job as a bank manager a few years ago, so has been working part time for HR Block. They plan to stop paying the mortgage this fall hoping they wont be forcefully removed until spring as any home in northern maine suffers major damage if vacant during the winter. They are walking away from 15 years of equity, but it will cost them over 1k a month to heat the house. They will be heading south in the spring to find an affordable apartment. I have 2 younger sisters in Maine as well who have kids. They are going to have it rough this winter as well. Their husbands both work construction, and will probably be layed off.

Lost my job, I'm over 50 and have over a hundred apps out, but with michigan unemployment at 8.5, not a bright future here. Lost my house last month, moved into a friends basement, defaulted on everything, gas, electric, phone, credit cards, ect. other than that, life is good.

We're paying out of work family members to do odd jobs around the house in and effort to help keep them afloat.

We'll be taking in a rentor for our mother in law apt above the garage.

Becoming more conscious of reusing old items and caring for the ones we have.

When we go camping, it's done locally instead of traveling to some far off camp ground.

It's not.

Gas is expensive: deal with it
Food is expensive: deal with it

The only thing I've changed is pulling all of my money out of the banks.

The important thing right now is if you have a job...keep it. The only way anyone will make it through this is by having a steady income.

I could explain it better but I would need charts, graphs and an easel.

I'm on Social Security until "they" abolish that. My $8,000 a year is gone each month long before the next check arrives.

GONE on rent, high cost of food, car, expensive gas, bills, mics, medical etc. I seldom have any money left for "fun" or recreation, just like the rest of us.

The USA ecomomy is FALLING according to the NWO PLAN. As we ride our bikes, and go without items we need, we fall from a first rate nation to a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.

This is just as the evil ones have planned for. The next President will see to it that we fall even further.

My neighbore is soliciting his wife.....no i'm serious, anythng for a buck.

I car pool. Am buying one on of those nifty motors you can attach to a bicycle. Will use that for all routine trips to town. bike/backpack/heavy coat in winter/ i'll be ok.

stopped paying bills

withdrew all money from the bank. fees for booboo's are always way more than any gains i ever recieved anyways.

got a well to do girlfriend that can afford to come see me rather than the reverse. ok, gape at me if you like, she's a far sweeter girl than any of those blood sucking eye candy girls ever have been.

also, I don't drink anymore, no less either, but not anymore. also gave up on smoking pot, i never pass on a freebie, but you won't see me in the last trailor of the trailor park anymore

also save cans, collect bottles, and have experimented with authentic asian food. ok, i know your gawking at me now, but hey, its cruel to let animals starve to death. this goes for them and me.

Love it. Love the attitude. This was kind of what I was hoping to hear, although I was curious about all aspects.

I think if we can all remember that life is almost completely your perspective of it, it'll help when change comes in a big wave.

Often, I remember the night I was introduced to Coast to Coast. I was driving across the state of Missouri on my way to Kansas City, and there was an interview with researchers in England who had tried to find out what makes some people lucky and some people not.

What they found out was that the ONLY difference between the lucky and unlucky people is that the lucky people BELIEVED they were lucky.

Figure out how you're lucky in all of this, and you'll be just fine.

My life is completely falling apart. I work only 10 hours a week...my son helps with my car payment...i only owe 2 more years... i cant really afford to drive. I have serious medical issues with no insurance... have to buy my prescriptions. I'm in debt with no solutions. I don't really know what to do anymore. And I can't afford to eat much anymore...so I do a lot of fasting. Other than that...life is grand!

We were a little ahead of the curve on some things- car pooling instead of taking separate cars, not eating out much, planting a garden. I'm fortunate that my wife grew up pretty poor and has low expectations [hey, she married me]

We are also clearing out the junk we don't need around the house and working on getting in better shape, though I can see the belly fat coming in handy :)

It feels like we're nesting- getting ready for something.

I have to move closer to work due to high gas prices and food prices.

This isn't freedom people.

This isn't what people died for.

Banks have fucked us.

Gov has fucked us.

CEO's have fucked us.

But I still love them.

I only have love in my heart.

I just wish they would care enough to see the person and persons they are hurting.

I'm sure in time people will learn to do the right thing.

I'm sure in time they will forget again about why it's so important to do the right thing.

It's just a big loop.

How is it affecting me personally? I'm a pro at what I do, I do the work of three men every day so I'm always employed. I'm paying triple fuel prices but I can handle it.
How does it affect my perception of society? I'm fucking pissed. I see piece of shit corporatist bankster cocksuckers that never did a lick of real work in their lives, who contribute nothing to the world, sucking up more and more of the sweat and blood of honest hard working people barely making ends meet now, who are going to freeze to death this winter because they can't afford fuel to heat their homes.
I listen to the bullshit the mainstream media tells these people about how the "mullahs" are the problem and how we need to kill more brown people on the other side of the world to make it better and most of the under educated brain damaged populace subjected to mind limiting chemicals foisted upon them by the same corporatist pricks making all the money swallow the lies whole.
I'm pissed off. But you know what? Once Joe Six Pack can't afford his six pack anymore he's gonna start asking questions for the first time in his life. And I'm gonna be there for him.

Boy meets girl, Girl meets another boy through the boy that loves her. The boy that the girl loves, falls in love with her mom. Her moms dad falls in love with the first boy. The first boy is forced to tell her dad that he doesn't love him and that he loves he little girl. So the to men work out a plan to hook up the Dads wife with the boy that the girl loves to get the boy that the girl loves, out of the picture.
So that the first boy can get a chance to fall in love with the dads little girl. The dad does all this for his love of his little girl and the love of the boy. Thinking that if he can't love the first boy then he can show him how much he loves him by helping his little girl fall in love with the first boy. The mom falls in love with the other boy and that frees the dad to leave his wife and move to san fran. Where he finds happiness with a female that looks like boy.
The dad wasn't gay he just knew in his heart that his true love looked like a boy. He couldn't figure out why he was attacked to the boyish look of women. Fill in the rest with good wit and funny flash backs and stuff and you'll be rich.

Re: How is the economy affecting YOU?Quote

I actually have more money now because I decided to keep my money instead of paying off credit cards.

NOW I shop for food not only at the grocery store but also at Big Lots and Dollar Store. They have some good deals on food.

I'm happy because for so long I sent all my extra money to pay off old debts. As I said to the Chase rep who just called asking about my default situation, "I have a choice between good credit and a full belly, AND I CHOOSE FOOD." Chase never should have loaned me as much money as they did on my low income. And do you know what she said?

"Well, your credit was so good, we thought it was okay to loan you in less than a year more than you made in that whole year."

I thought, "That makes no sense," and "In reality you thought I would be another one of the retards who pays you for 30 years because you jack the interest rate higher and higher."

Too bad, that is over now!

I hope all those banks that prey on low-income people go belly up!

I know I "shouldn't" have borrowed money from them, but I was really desperate at the time. It seemed easier, THEN, to borrow from them than to ask anyone I knew for help.

I'm an EMT for a small rural county in Pa. and I just got a dollar an hour raise....whoopie!!!!...Not.
That whole 40 dollars more a week will put me over the top.
I'm rich now I tell ya!!!!
The county I work for just did a tax accessment and raised some home owners property taxes by over 120%. Our budget looks like it's gonna stay the same though.
I'm glad I don't live in the county I work for.
I'm looking to get out of this job. Cuz I can't afford to go to work anymore.
A friend of mine(Whom I use to work with here)and is also an ex-NYPD Emergency Services cop, who now runs the show at a huge, high dollar, year round resort is trying to get me into her crew at better hours and pay.
The place is only 5 miles from my house opposed to the 28 miles I drive each way today.
