What I mean is that this guy may have been better off without insurance, trying to copay this and that
So many pay in to the HC system for years and get little or no benefit
I am healthy and insured through my employer, and haven't even USED the coverage.. I had coverage for years I didn't need or use. That's a fucking slush fund they have ..
No one will pay that guys 400k... they already did .. fuck the insurance scam, the health care system is self supporting if you do away with the paper pushing that ins . cos entail..
The scam is designed around putting people to work doing nothing.
MEANWHILE we have this huge crisis with the elderly who paid and paid and now if they only have medicaid they get worse care than prisoners?
I am serious. I have a relative who worked in high end nursing home and even that care was shit. THey hire minimum wage people with horrible attitudes to take care of the most vulnerable people? That's insanity.
Get all the paper pushers trained to change diapers and take vital signs and read and talk to these people, instead of sitting in an office doing data entry.

Would Dr. Paul's libertarian philosophy make him inclined to be for or against any government sponsored or mandated assistance to obtain insurance for those who can't otherwise afford it?

What a testament to the Libertarian creed, which abhors the idea of universal health care. This loyal, passionate man who died too young left his family a debt of $400,000 in medical bills.

Sadly, the Libertarian heart apparently does not include health care. The poor guy raised tens of millions of dollars and couldn't afford the $300-$600 a month that COBRA medical insurance would have cost.
A website has been created to help raise the $400,000 to pay the medical bills.

You are right. But it isn;t just healthcare. In every part of society you have people who do nothing but push pencils conforming to government regulations but yet with all this regulation banks are still failing and people routinely get ripped off. Its all a total waste of time, money and effort. The only thing it does is employ a bunch of lazy useless lard asses. Gives them bigger salaries than the people who work and produce real products.
The feds are the biggest obsticle to real progress in this country. Without all their red tape this country would be much more prosperous.

If you are self-employed and have diabetes or hypertension you cannot purchase health insurance; the companies will not cover you. Full stop.
Stats:
Per the CDC, there are an estimated 24 million Americans with diabetes, which is 8% of the US population. Type II diabetes increased by three million Americans in two years from 2005-2007. There are an estimated 57 million people who are "pre-diabetic".
In 2006, it is estimated that between 28-30% of the entire American population has hypertension with 37% more with "pre-hypertension" or high blood pressure.

Hospital cost perspective:
Last year an ER visit for a shot to treat a wasp sting cost almost $700, and we never even spoke to a Dr.
A two-day hospital stay in CO to diagnose/treat a sudden onset seizure several years ago cost $35K. The competence across the board - doctors and nurses - was horrendous...almost non-existent.....and quite dangerous for the patients. They completely screwed up the diagnosis and the treatment. Gave us a "We don't really know why it happened" along with a bill for $35K.
Interestingly, in a similar situation years ago in Mexico City (a Spanish hospital), we received hospital services and care that, in our experience so far, have been unmatched.
The US healthcare system is completely run by profit mongers without concern or focus on the patient. It is appalling, especially when one has a comparison, but the system will not be any better and will most likely be worse when run by our government given their track record, I'm afraid.

You can bet just like everything else your name is on a list. Micro-managed right down to the fine print, If you come up as a peasant with no connections or influence they will overcharge, give wrong diagnosises and hope you go broke and die a slow painful death.
Already the insurance companies have a green light to deny all first time claims on the calculated tactic that only 50 percant will come back and dispute it. Those are the only people that have a chance to collect much of anything. |

Ok, guys.Why should someone who collects money FOR getting elected NOT to buy yachts, homes or pay debts of workers of huge amounts DIVERT funds YOU sent him for the presidential race to personal issues of friends and employees?
It would be honorable to instead ask for a memorium set up for the guys family situation but why pay the rip off bankers hospital scheme???It's a way over charge any way.Pay for his funeral and help his kids if he has them but as a Memorium for being such a good campaign manager.He wasn't a scammer campaign manager or else he wouldn't owe the $400,000.
