i just checked it on google earth.
you have to goto the weather check box and turn "clouds" on.
yes, it is actually showing up.
but now its larger and more rectangular shaped and stretching from australia to china/alaska.
questions:
1. what the fuck is this?
2. does google earth actually have live updating of global cloud cover????
if google earth actually does have live updating for the clouds... then um... yeah, something really big is blocking the satellite(s) view....

its near live - updates every 3 hours.
"This Google Earth add-on displays a near live global cloud layer, automatically updating every 3 hours.
The global cloud imagery is based on a composite map from GMS, METEOSAT and GOES satellites, provided by xplanet. A script running on my server adds alpha transparency to this."

The google earth weather layer is pulled from NOAA weather satellites, GOES; google doesn't have their own satellites. it looks like the data from a number of passes is either bad or missing, hence no clouds...the visualization program google earth uses adds the strange shape/swath when data is corrupt or non-existent |

Found it! Can't supply a link because you need to download the Google Earth software...its not a web app.
Looks to me like a swatch of missing data. Though I would love to see evidence of the GFL ship. |

hmm it's not missing images because i saw a few clouds blending with the empty space, so it's not a softwAre error. more like a blocked signal |
