Folks out on West Coast tell tales of seeing cloudless strange colored lightning (for lack of better term) before quakes. And thought struggles against the results, trying to avoid those unpleasant results while keeping on with that way of thinking. That is what I call 'sustained incoherence.' ...David Bohm “How, O Zenobia, hast thou dared to insult Roman emperors?” ...Aurelian, 44th Emperor of the Roman Empire |

Jeff_43 User ID: 74189055 United States 04/28/2017 11:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It was 3am or so. About halfway down the TN side of the mountain. Huge bright blinding flash. It seemed to come from everywhere including the car. I had to stop and get the spots out of my eyes. It was very bright, and my wife also saw it. It scarred us both so bad we would not unlock the car doors to go out and look around. No other cars were around and we saw no evidence of hikers. Rolling down the windows enough to listen outside everything was quiet, too quite not a sound of the normal sounds of nature, only the sound of the stream beside the road. Clear skys, no chance of rain or anything. That was 10 years ago and I still get spooked traveling through that area at night. It is one of the reasons I now run to dash cams in my car 24/7, one out the front windshield and the other out the rear windshield. If it ever happens again I want proof of what we saw. |

Very common to see a lot of weird stuff in that area of App mountains. Down in the low country there's the swamp gas gig which can play havoc w/ night driving. I've seen small, localized flashes in different places in NC and in a handful where I ruled out all logical explanations and left w/ some cases where I just couldn't figure out WTH. But not like a huge flash as you guys are talking about. And thought struggles against the results, trying to avoid those unpleasant results while keeping on with that way of thinking.
